The integration of equity, in the process of planning and design, promotes benefits for the residents in underinvested communities by establishing policies and practices to deal with these issues. The difficulties faced by these communities as well as the reasons for these difficulties demand an honest dialog amongst policymakers, designers, planners, scholars, students and members of such communities.

The Open City Symposium at CAPPA aims to bring the issues to the table publicly and seeks optimal measures to achieve equity in the built environment.  The conference will build on previous successes by involving diverse experts and community members and leveraging CAPPA’s expertise in design, planning and policy.

THIS IS A COME & GO MEETING - SHOW UP AT ANY TIME!

The community-based master plan for the Polytechnic Heights neighborhood is being developed in collaboration among professors and students from the architecture and landscape architecture departments at UTA.

During this meeting, we are asking members of the Polytechnic Heights Community to provide feedback. Your opinions are very important for us and the process will help us to develop a community-driven master plan for Polytechnic Heights that addresses the needs of the community. Please attend!

More Information about this Project

Prof. Dennis Chiessa and his students from the Spatial [in] Justice course have conducted multiple community meetings and research in Polytechnic Heights during Fall 2020. With the data and findings collected from Fall 2020 and Spring 2021, Dr. Joowon Im and her students from the Environmental Landscape Planning and Design course are working on a community-based master plan in collaboration with Prof. Chiessa and his students from Architecture Design Studio II.
